THEATRE CLASSES
INTRODUCTION TO THEATRE
Grades 9-12
This survey class introduces new theatre artists to a variety of theatre aspects: theatre history, mime, the voice and body as actor's instruments, design and technology, playwriting, and stage combat. All students are encouraged to take this class before Advanced Theatre Studio or Technical Theatre.
ADVANCED THEATRE STUDIO
Grades 10-12
Building off of the Introduction to Theatre class, this advanced level course pushes students to consider theatre in a more specific and professional study. Class curriculum is influenced on student interest; past classes have covered script analysis, musical theatre structure and analysis, accents and dialects, and playwriting. Students are required to take Introduction to Theatre before taking Advanced Theatre Studio.
TECHNICAL THEATRE
Grades 10-12
Utilizing lecture and hands-on lab learning, this class focuses on basic concepts of stage scenic design, lighting, sound, costumes, props, and stage makeup. Students spend class time both in a traditional classroom and on-stage working on class projects or projects for a current production. It is encouraged that students take Introduction to Theatre before taking Technical Theatre.
